That has happened to me, and it scared me. I do not want to lose my memories to Alzheimers. Well, misplacing the occasional word, or your car keys are to be expected as we age. However, if you are like me, you worry anyway as the pattern of recall and word loss happens often enough that it is noticeable, because at this stage of your life, you know from experience that the worst can and does happen to good people. What can you do, since there is not a diagnostic test that predicts Alzheimer’s Disease? In my research on word loss I came across some very interesting information about a couple of capacities of the human brain that we can enhance. One is neuroplasticity, the other is neurogenesis, which means that we grow new brain cells every day. That is right, replacement parts do grow, especially if we take care of the brain. So maybe we can build a significant cognitive reserve that offsets the ravages of Alzheimer’s. Read on to find out how. The articles below are pages from my website, and there is some overlap. Please forgive me for that. I am going to blame it on memory loss.
